Welcome to the St. Lucia Animal Protection Society web site. The Society is dedicated to improving the welfare of all the animals on the island of St Lucia, in the West Indies. Please use the links above and to the left to explore our site and find out how you can help us.

SLAPS
The St. Lucia Animal Protection Society (SLAPS) is a registered non-profit organization. SLAPS was established in 1998 and we continue to be the only officially recognized animal welfare group in St. Lucia. For more information, please contact us by phone or e-mail.

SHELTER
SLAPS is looking for new premises for the establishment of a permanent animal shelter. If you know of any suitable property, please contact us on 717-5277.
In the meantime, rescued animals will be rehabilitated by volunteers at their homes (see below).
FOSTER-A-PET
SLAPS needs volunteers to foster rescued animals. If you would like to help care for rescued puppies, kittens, dogs, or cats (you can state your preference) until they are ready to be re-homed, please contact us on 717-5277.
FLEAMARKET
Don't forget the flea market on the first Saturday of every month in the Coco Palm parking lot, Rodney Bay. Rain or shine, the SLAPS volunteers will be there: stop by the SLAPS' table and purchase something or make a donation: all proceeds go towards the rescuing and care of animals.

Looking for a home...
We have a number of dogs and kittens desperately looking for new homes. If you think you can help, please check out our Adoption section.
Disaster Preparedness
As we head into another hurricane season it is time to review disaster preparedness plans. It is important that animals are not forgotten in times of emergency. Ensure that you have made provision for your pets and livestock. The Humane Society of the United States website has many words of wisdom, please read our June Newsletter (JPG 430Kb) packed with useful information about including your animals in your household disaster plan.
The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site, http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com and click on "Fund Food for Animals" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.
